Cooperation with Shinshu University's Water Purification System Project for Tanzania

Toray Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO & COO: Takashi Iwade; hereinafter “Toray Engineering”) has supported a water purification system that uses crystal growth technology developed by Shinshu University, which has now started operation* in the United Republic of Tanzania.

Toray Engineering has extensively promoted impactful social activities under the Toray group’s philosophy, “contributing to society.” This project aims to support the improvement of water quality in Tanzania and other African countries by helping develop crystals that remove excessive fluorine, which is a cause of health problems, by themselves using the “flux method,” a crystal growth technology developed by Shinshu University. This water purification system is widely used to supply local domestic water and drinking water for livestock.

The Toray Engineering group ranks Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as one of its essential management tasks. As a good corporate citizen, it continues its active involvement in and contributions to the further development of community and society.
